Acceleration of the education is the presentation and application of an advanced curriculum to the students. The present research comprises literature review on the acceleration issue. The aim of the study is to review the researches conducted about acceleration; which is an extremely important and widely used strategy in science and math education for gifted students and to reach a conclusion about the efficacy and effectiveness of the acceleration practices in educational settings. The research findings indicate that acceleration is an effective strategy and the implementation of this strategy has positive results especially in performance based subject domains like science and mathematics.
