Gender difference which has been studied for many years, has taken on a new dimension as "gender difference in gifted" with growing research on gifted education. There are several researches on the underlying reasons for the underrepresentation of gifted women in science, mathematics and engineering and on the question of "Are gender specific variations among gifted people related with ability, motivation or gender stereotyping with respect to social expectations?" A deeper understanding of the reasons and the impact of gender sensitive variation among the gifted by teachers and parents is very important in terms of achieving effective instruction, mentoring, career planning and enabling social adaptation. The study aims to give insight to literature on this topic and offer crucial information about gender-specific variation among gifted to the teachers, parents and academics working on this field. While addressing to the complexities arising from gender difference between gifted boys and girls, the study indicates that gifted girls are more at risk than boys in suffering from the negative impact of gender discrimination.
