The study aims to reveal the views of 5th, 6th, and 7th graders on social studies learning environments. To this end, the study recruited 27, 31, and 33 students from the 5th, 6th, and 7th grades, respectively, for a total of 91 students (49 males, 42 females) who are attending a state school affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Ankara for the school year 2018-2019. Data prepared using the qualitative research method were collected through open-ended questions and underwent content analysis. In addition, students were instructed to draw the setting for their ideal social studies class, and images were analyzed with the drawing method. Results revealed that students found the current class setting weak in terms of material equipment. Notably, factors, such as enjoyableness of social studies and its reflection in the ideal class setting of the students, increased interest in the course and exerted a positive effect on the comprehension and motivation of students. In addition, when asked to draw ideal social studies classes, the students drew adequately equipped settings, although they retained the traditional seating arrangement.
