Sait Faik has been the most important short-story writer of the period from 1936 to 1954 and after. The years overlap with the time when the Language Reform had its paramount effect on writers. This paper presents usually in their own words the most critical evaluation by his contemporaries of Sait Faik and the writer‟s reactions to them. This attempt may also contribute to reader‟s understanding of Sait Faik stories and the language used in them.
