The Effect of the Emotion Regulation Education Program on the Emotion Regulation Skills of the Children Staying in the Children’s Houses Site

The study aimed to examine the effect of the Emotion Regulation Training Program on the emotion regulation skills of children residing in children’s homes and to ascertain the opinions of the institution’s child development specialist and care staff regarding the program’s impact on the children’s emotion regulation skills. The research employed a sequential explanatory design from mixed designs. The study group comprised 23 children aged four–six residing in Sevgi Children’s Homes Site in Sivas, along with the institution’s child development specialist and eight care personnel. Data collection tools included the “General Information Form,” “Emotion Regulation Scale,” and “Child Development Specialist and Care Personnel Interview Form.” Results of the research indicated that the program enhanced the emo t ional regulation skills of the children in the experimental group. Furthermore, the permanence test revealed that the program’s effect persisted over time. As a result of the qualitative findings, it was observed that the child development specialist and care personnel stated that the emotional regulation skills of the children participating in the training program improved.
