The Effect of Functional Activities of Motivation and Learning Styles Based Activities on Students’ Attitude Towards Science Education Lesson

The aim of this research is to put forward whether teaching activities based on learning styles and 6th grade students' motivations for learning Science have an effect on their attitudes towards the subjects like Earth and Universe. The research is quasi-experimental study that comprises of neutral assignment. Also, this study has two experimental groups with pre-test and post-test groups and one control group.  The sample of the research is constructed with totally 80 students in three classes, these are secondary school 6th grade experiment-1 group of 31 students, experiment-2 group of 27 students and control group of 22 students. In the research, motivation scale and learning style scale are used before implementation while Earth, Moon and Sun scales are used before and after experimental practice. Descriptive analysis, dependent groups t-test and one-way ANOVA test are utilized for analysis of the obtained data. After the unit Earth, Moon and Life Source Sun were taught to experiment-1 group students with teaching activities based upon students' motivation for learning Science, it was observed that students' average points raised from 84.16 to 100.35. Plus, when this unit was commentated to experiment group-2 group through activities based on students’ learning styles, their average increased from 81.70 to 100.74, whereas the average went up from 90.09 to 92.45 when the unit was taught to control group via traditional methods taking place in Science Curriculum. Nevertheless, it came in sight that there is not any meaningful relationship statistically between experiment-1 group, experiment-2 and control group students’ post-test points [F(2-79)=1.848, p>.05] of Earth, Moon and Sun attitude scale.
