The purpose of this article is to study the effect of computer-supported teaching applications on 8th grade students’ academic success and knowledge retention. While the courses were conducted through 5Es teaching model and computer-supported teaching together in an experimental group, only the 5Es teaching model was used in the control group. Also, the technology classroom was only used for experimental group courses because the control group courses were conducted in regular classrooms or laboratories. In the study, half of the experimental method was carried out. The study includes test group (n = 60) and control group (n = 60), for a total of 120 students. In the study, the Force and Motion Unit Success Test (FMUST) developed by researchers was used as a data collecting tool. While comparing quantitative data, dependent and independent t-Tests were employed. At the end of the research, it was determined that computer aided instructions have a significant effect on the academic achievement and knowledge permanence of eighth grade students. Based on these findings, we suggest that the computer-assisted teaching materials developed in this study could be used as sample materials in the “Increasing Opportunities and Improvement of Technology Movement” (IOITM) Project.
