This study aims to determine the variables affecting communication skills and to test validity, reliabilitiy and norm study of the four communication skills of understanding emotions, establishing eye contact, listening and expressing emotions in order to measure the communication skills levels of preschool children. In the course of the study, "Test on Understanding Emotions", Test on Establishing Eye Contact", "Listening Test" and "Expressing Emotions Test" were administered to the subjects and validity, reliability and norm study of the tests were completed. As a result of the validity and reliability studies, it has been apperent that the test s were effective with children whose ages range between five years and six months to six years and five months. Results have also revealed that variables of age and gender do not indicate a correlation with the scores attained on "Test on Understanding Emotions", Test on Establishing Eye Contact", "Listening Test" and "Expressing Emotions Test". On the other hand, it can be seen that the state of attending the preschool institute, the education level of the mother and the father and the financial status of the family variables and the scores yielded by the "Expressing Emotions Test" have a significant correlation.
