According to Gagne, mental ability is the major concern of learning at schools and the most current learning styles are; discrimination, concept learning, learning principles and problem solving. The primary goal of teaching is to enhance problem solving skills of students. With respect to Gagne's information processing model, formation of concept learning and comprehension are the most vital factors in promoting permanent learning. This kind of learning can only be achieved by transmitting the data to the long term memory. Visual materials should be used to enable conceptual learning and activate the process of meaning making. Based on the Gagne Model, all implementations were conducted with the participation of 8th grade students for teaching them how to measure the volume of irregular-shaped objects and compare them with the volume of regular-shaped objects, and also for teaching the number pi (71) and its daily use. The first group of students were provided with power point slights in lesson presentation, and they were given the opportunity to form concept map. The same subject was taught to the second group by using traditional teaching techniques where there was no space for conceptualization. To evaluate the effectiveness of the model, the subjects were given a set of questions to find out if they comprehended the subject or not. The analysis of data revealed that the students that were taught with traditional teaching method could not comprehend the subject and failed to form concept map, and nearly all of the gained information remained in their short term memory.
