This research has been done to determine the impact of active learning techniques on the senior primary students' attitudes towards writing, and on their writing achievement. The research has been carried out with the participation of 7th grade students of İzmir Recep Ersayın Primary School at spring semester of 2006-2007 academic year. The research implements pretest-posttest model with control group and for the experimental process, the active learning techniques were employed in the experimental group, whereas the control group was exposed to the traditional teaching techniques. Data of the research has been collected by applying the "Attitude Scale Towards Writing" and "Writing Achievement Test" to both groups as pre and post tests. The analysis of data collected has shown that active learning, when compared to other traditional teaching methods, has a positive effect on Writing Achievement and on Attitude Formation. The study above revealed that girls' writing achievement and positive attitudes towards writing have been higher than those of the boys.
