In this article, certain linguistic and poetic characteristics of Ahmet Oktay's poetry book Elegies and Panegyrics have been studied. A semantic style has been applied and especially relations between word pairs have been analyzed in terms of "opposition", "equivalence" and "homology". Through complementary (twin) and repelling (opposite-twin) concepts, the basic themes in Oktay's poems such as /human nature and fate/, /time/, /language/, /religion/ and /love have been scrutinized.
