In this research, the aim is to define the thoughts of the 9th grade students about the usage of the maths subjects in daily life. Taking this aim into consideration, these are some of the possible questions, which are investigated: What is the percentage of the students who like maths? What is the percentage of the students who think that math is a necessary lesson? Is the usage of the subjects in daily life mentioned? Should the usage of the subjects in daily life be presented in books? Does usage in daily life help students understand the subjects better? How much do the students know about the usage of the maths subjects in daily life? The type of the research is scanning. Surveys are used to learn the thoughts of the students about the usage of maths subjects in daily life. The research has covered 440 students who were randomly selected from the 9th grade of 21 high schools in İstanbul. The data collected have been analyzed through SPSS statistics program. The most important finding of the research is that the students have little idea about the usage of maths subjects in daily life. To conclude, it is possible to mention that the students should be informed of the usage of the maths subjects in daily life, it should be presented in books, and the teachers should be educated so that they must have the proper knowledge and skill regarding the subject. Also the class named “Maths and Daily Life” should take place in the educational program.
