This study has intended to evaluate thepro-social attitudes, one of the subjects of different disciplinary fields, andthe concept of altruist motivation as the source of these attitudes. For thispurpose, answers have been sought for to the questions of whether one has amotivation not depending on his/her own benefit, whether they will behaveselflessly even if it is possible to have such a motivation for the good ofothers and what are their inner sources, if any. In the analyses, the views ofthe important research from Plato and Kant regarding the way the attitudes ofhelping and how the concept of altruism have emerged in the conceptualizationprocesses in literature have been given. The evaluation has been conducted byincluding the altruist motivation as well as its other forms. As a result, it is seen that there areimportant points that trigger the altruist motivation and the most importantpoint is emphatic concern; also, it is understood that the importance of thefact that the concept of altruism should take place in development andeducation paradigms and that one should be benevolent can be taught. Lastly,perspectives and recommendations on the problem have been listed.
