The Function of Literature Teaching in the Process of Individual Training: “Gülibik”, “Yaban” and “Christ Stopped at Eboli”

Individual is the universal identity of a person who is able to generate authentic ideas about the world. It is necessary to bring the national literature and the world literature together. At the same time, it is expected that the characters in children's literature works used at primary and secondary school level should also be developed proper to the individual level. In this study, Gülibik novel whose main character is a child, and Carlo Levi’s ‘Christ Stopped at Eboli’ which portrays the endeavor of the urban intellectuals to understand the villagers and what happens in the village and Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu's ‘Yaban’ novels are analysed in the focus of the feature of being individual. At the end of the study. the three of the characters have gained universal criticism towards the problems and learned to question the world and what it contains.
