This research aims to understand how private and public schools and their teachers view the importance of values education. The working group of this study consisted of 30 class teachers working in public schools in Afyonkarahisar, Düzce, Hatay, and Istanbul and 22 class teachers working in private schools in Ankara, Çankırı, Düzce, and Kayseri. This study relied on qualitative content analysis through a case study design. The importance that class teachers and their schools placed on values education was determined by semi-structured interviews. The research results indicated that the private schools and the class teachers working in these schools placed more importance on values education than the public schools and the class teachers working in these schools. In addition, while private school teachers cared more about universal values, public school teachers cared about universal and national values equally.
