Although using German history in teaching German aims to attract the interest of learners of German towards the German language and Germany, it still remains as a difficult topic to cover in classes. For this reason, many German language teachers try to avoid It and many textbooks to teach German either has only a few pages that are devoted to German history or not include it at all. In this article I would like to show how to use concrete poetry that covers the recent German history in German language lessons. In the examples provided in this article, there is an attempt to show how this type of poetry reflects the German history and how we can attract the learners' interests and motivate them when we teach it. This would be my aim. For the German language teachers I wanted to present, how It is possible to use these poems as authentic materials, without any simplification of them or of the German history.
