The purpose of this study was to evaluate the opinions of the students who had completed a master’s degree about violence against women in the Department of Lifelong Learning at Bartin University Institute of Educational Sciences. A qualitative research methodology was employed in the study, namely, phenomenology. Convenient sampling was used to select the 18 participants. The participants stated that doing a master’s degree, which incorporated a thesis, in the Department of Lifelong Learning made them more conscious about violence against women, gender issues, and women education. They believed violence against women prevents women from self-realization and can only be reduced with education. Participants shed light on the subject by sharing their opinions about the reasons and further suggested solutions.
