INVESTIGATING SCIENCE AND ARTS CENTER STUDENTS’ OPINIONS ON THESE ORGANIZATIONS

The aim of this research is to determine the opinions of gifted and talented students who attend Science and Arts Centers about Science and Arts Centers. The participants of the research consist of 100 students in two Science and Arts Centers who attend 4th and 5th classes in Adana and Mersin. Homogeneous sampling method which is one of the purposeful sampling methods was used in this research. Besides this, question forms including close and open-ended questions and metaphor method were used to collect data. The duration of answering the questions in the question form is approximately 15-20 minutes and during that period, the students weren’t interrupted. In the analysis of the qualitative data, content analysis method was used. The results of the study have revealed that all the participant students agree about the contribution of Science and Arts Centers. They mentioned that these centers have contributed to be tidier and hardworking, to find out the intelligence potential and abilities, correct guidance, scientific and artistic development, learning English and socialization. Based on findings of the study, regarding several subjects that students define as obstacles such as collaboration, time management, and project development, it is suggested to organize educational seminars, preparing and presenting audio visual materials .
