It is taken into consideration that, the achievement of maths lesson is influenced by many other factors. The lesson which is prepared in accordance with the learning styles of the students increases the success. In this context, it is important to determine the learning style preference of the students and the relation between their learning styles and maths achievement. According to this observation, this research is aimed to find out the relation between the learning styles and maths achievement of the 7th class students of primary school. The research has the screening model and is prepared to find out the success points of 7th. class students' learning styles and their success in maths in terms of gender. It is carried out with 7th class students being educated in Istanbul. The data of the research is collected by "The Learning Styles Scale" which is developed by Gökdağ (2004). The students' first term report cards of maths lesson is also collected as data and used for comparison. The data of the research is analysed by SPSS 16 packet program. In the findings of the study, it has been observed that there is a meaningful difference between visual learning style and students maths achievement. However, this has not been observed in the case of gender difference and female students have been more successful in maths achievement. The findings have been discussed according to the effect of learning styles on gender and maths achievement.
