The countries that understand the importance of language learning and teaching better particularly with globalization have followed certain policy making approaches so as to be able to achieve foreign language instruction effectively. One of these policies is to start foreign language instruction at an early age. By means of certain regulations in our country, teaching English as a foreign langauge was decided to start at the second grade of the primary school and a new English language curriculum was developed accordingly. Within this context, the purpose of this study was to determine English language teachers’ views of the second grade English course and the new English language curriculum that put into practice in 2013-2014 academic year for the first time. Study group of this qualitative study consists of 30 English language teachers who taught the second grade students in different regions of Turkey and participated in the study voluntarily. Developed by the researchers, a ten-question, structured interview form was used as the data collection instrument. The data obtained from the interview form was analyzed through descriptive analysis and content analysis with NVIVO 8 program. Results of the study demonstrated that English language teachers had positive views towards the new English curriculum in general. The teachers who thought that attainments and content of the new curriculum were appropriate or partially appropriate pointed out that they applied the methods, techniques and activities which were similar with the methods, techniques and activities suggested in the curriculum. However, the teachers encountered certain problems such as classroom management, lack of tools and materials, and being unable to know how to teach effectively to the target group.
