Abstract
Digital transformation in higher education has emerged as a critical area of research, driven by rapid technological advancements and the need for universities to adapt to the evolving educational landscape. This study aims to analyze the trends and patterns in digital transformation research within higher education from 2019 to 2024 through bibliometric analysis, focusing on its scope, impact, and future directions. This research used bibliometric analysis techniques, including performance analysis and science mapping, with Scopus as the primary database. A comprehensive search yielded 1407 relevant publications, which were analyzed for descriptive characteristics, influential factors, and thematic connections among core terms. This study revealed a significant increase in publications on digital transformation, highlighting the growing recognition of its significance among scholars. Key findings included the identification of influential journals, authors, and countries contributing to this field, with Spain, China, and Germany emerging as leaders in both publication volume and citation impact. Thematic analysis indicated a strong focus on integrating digital technologies into education, with keywords reflecting the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on research priorities. The results also uncovered various research themes, including digital literacy, educational technology, and emerging interests such as artificial intelligence and sustainability. This study provides valuable insights into the evolving landscape of digital transformation in higher education, emphasizing the need for strategic adaptation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
